Reaching for the Stars

Parents want children to aim high, yet not become discouraged with failure. The secret of success is to think of ideals as stars. They're easy to look at, tempting to wish for, difficult to reach but essential for getting where you want to go.
Encourage your children to reach their ideals by setting realistic long-term goals. Then teach them to break
each goal into manageable pleces-reasonable short-term objectives. Each objective reached brings your children one step nearer to success.
But they shouldn't try to reach the whole galaxy at once. It's easy to become discouraged or do a second-rate job when they attempt too much.
Tell your child, "Ideals are like stars. You may never reach them. But you can set your course by them. And
when you do, you'll find yourself doing more than you ever thought possible.'

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.—Philippians 3:14, NLT
